Homemade Ice Cream ( Red Bean Flavor)

Hello everyone,

So my dad cook red bean soup (dessert) for the family. Sadly we couldn't manage to finish the whole thing as there is still quite a bit left.

Truthfully it's because the red bean isn't soft to chew.. =P sorry daddy...

Not wanting to be wasteful, I've decided to make it into ICE CREAM... hehe..
Always wanted to try it out since I saw the video from The One Pot Chef around 2 / 3 years back.
Do like his Facebook page and subscribe his youtube for awesome recipes. =D

I'm not a wonderful awesome cook but I try my best using some mini common sense of mine. It is my first time making.. @_@

The Pre-production.

Get a container that is big enough to fill everything later and put into a freezer.

I heat the left over red bean till they are soft and gooey. Use a wooden spoon and keep on steering and breaking the red bean.

After around 15-20mins (on low heat) it's fully soft and quite dry, I took it off the heat and let it cool.

Keep on steering and crushing the red bean till it's very gooey. Warning: it might look disgusting to some of you.. >//<

Once it's gooey / paste form, just leave it to cool down. At the same time you can prepare the other ingredients you need. =D

Tip : steering it will make it cool faster.

The Production

Here's what you need.
2 cups of milk
2 cups of whipping cream
1/2 cup of sugar ( i put less than that cause in the red bean soup that my dad made is already sweet)
vanilla extract ( i didn't put cause i don't have) >//<
1 cup of red bean (paste form)

Next, just put everything in the blender. But try to put liquid stuff in it first as you don't want the red bean to stick to the blade of the blender. So here I put Milk in first.

Then red bean paste

Whipping cream and sugar.

cap it and blend it away...

Blend for around 2 Min's.. During this time I'm a bit deaf as the sound of the blender was so loud.. my dad had to scream to ask me what I was doing.. LOL

2 Min's later.. DONE!
Please note it might leak out a bit while it's blending if your blender isn't bit enough.. mine did.. T_T

The Post-Production

Take out that container you've chilled in the freezer,

Pour every thing into it,

Cap it and put it into the freezer for 6-8 Hours.. Do not open and check it during this time.. just relax and wait...

Tick Tock Tick Tock... omg.. i swear the wait is KILLING ME....

The Screening

Finally.. after 10 hours.. actually it's been longer than that cause it was overnight... haha... =P

OMG.. WHAT HAPPEN?? IT'S AS SOLID AS A BRICK..

Don't worry.. it's a homemade ice cream. We didn't put in any commercial anti-freeze additives.. so it's normal.. Just take it out and wait till it's soften and you can enjoy...

Plus i have an idea.. you can actually pour it in a ice cube tray to freeze it and Whoalla ... ICE CREAM POTONG (cut).. Hahaha... It's a traditional ice cream that i eat since i was young..  it looks like this.. in a rectangular shape.. =D
sometimes people will cut it into smaller pieces to serve and share.. hence the ice cube tray will be perfect for serving size.. XD

Credits to the owner.. ^_^

this is how I serve my home made ice cream.. in a CUP! =D
it's a bit melted cause i left it out to soften too long.. went out for dinner >//<

I hope you enjoy how I make my own version of homemade ice-cream.. Do tell me what you think.. =D till next time.. ^_^
